The name Langtang is a well-established National Park. Langtang and Helambu Regions are the nearest trekking trials from Kathmandu Valley but less explored compare with Annapurna & Everest Regions.
Langtang and Helambu trek routes goes through traditional, ethnic villages and untouched forests on the way to the peak of Langtang-Lirung.
The highlights of Langtang trek include a visit to the Langtang Valley, Kyangin Gompa and the Lirung Glacier. One can also climb the Cherko-Ri Peak and visit nearby Lake Gosain Kunda which is often said as frozen lake.
Helambu region is richer in culture and lifestyle of various ethnic groups of people from Brahmin, Chhetri, Danuwar to Tamang and Sherpas. During summer this trek is rewarded by many flowers especially Blue Poppy.
Trekking to Langtang Region can be done from 3 days minimum to nearly a month. 3 Days Chisapani Nagarkot trek can give a satisfied hiking experience while 8 days Langtang valley trek can take one to the Lirung Glacier in the ground of Langtang village of Tibetan culture with stunning mountain view. One can spend couple of days (Optional trips) to climb peaks like Cherko-Ri or Lang-Shisa peak or visit to glacier by using extra days as per own interests.
Same 8 days can be spent to experience traditional, ethnic villages of Helambu region. Gosain-Kunda, a Frozen Lake can be visited by spending 10 days. Or the pass (Lauribinayak, 4610 m.) from Langtang to enter Helambu area via Gosain-Kunda can be done by using 15 precious days of your life.

Langtang trek starts by an early morning 8 ? 10 hours very scenic drive to Dhunche (2030 m.) or Syabru Besi (1460 m.). View of terrace land, Himalayas, local people activities, river etc can be very interesting on the drive.
Helambu regions can be entered by only 30 minutes drive to Sundarijal or 4 hours drive to Melamchi Pul Bazar. Regular flights are not approachable in this regions but charter helicopters for short trip and for rescue can be arranged.
Trekking to Langtang & Helambu Regions could be difficult as well as risky (Especially Ganjala pass 5130 m.) if your guide is inexperienced and management is poor. Otherwise this trek is taken as a most interesting and pleasant trek by our clients whoever been there. One doesn?t need to have any sort of advanced training as well as don?t need to be very sportive.
Possibilities are there to meet Maoists only if you choose your trek in Helambu areas over 5 days. In Langtang area Maoists are not met by visitors until now because of the security force existing in Langtang National Park.
And in case in meeting them guide will deal paying some amount of donation. Until today, there is not found even a single case that any tourist is hearted by Maoists.
